Postcardshop Groeten Uit – Utrecht – NL
In 1993 Han Ruyters, founder and owner of Groeten Uit, started his postcardshop in the city center of Utrecht, The Netherlands. Since then his collection of postcards and paper ephemera has grown enormously to more than 1,000,000 items.
To say Groeten Uit has one of the largest stocks of photographs in Holland is no understatement. Avid collectors always find their way to Oudegracht 284. The company participates in a lot of fairs and shows all over the country and abroad.
The Groeten Uit photo collection ranges from 19th-century photo albums, cartes-de-visite, cabinet photo’s and sterographic photo’s to early twentieth-century Dutch topograpical photographs and postcards. Apart from topo the shop has a lot of postcards arranged according to subject like architecture, judaica, sports, transport, World War I propaganda, etc. Scores of postcards made in Art nouveau, Wiener Werkstaette design, avant-garde or by the French surrealists are also part of the stock.
A recent aqcuisition on show in Amsterdam is a 1880s vintage album with 85 albumen photographs of the native population of Bolivia (1850 euro).
