Lecturer / conservator
Katrin Pietsch holds a diploma in the conservation of Audiovisual and Photographic Objects from the University of Applied Science, Berlin. As a photograph conservator she published internationally about the topics Photographic Negatives, Large Format Polaroids and Colour Slides. She developed several conservation methods in the field of photograph conservation.
Between 2007 and 2019 Katrin Pietsch worked as a photograph conservator for the Nederlands Fotomuseum in Rotterdam. Since 2019 she is coordinating lecturer for photograph conservation at the University of Amsterdam within the Graduate Programme in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage. she also works as an independent photograph conservator in her own studio in Rotterdam. In that function she carries out conservation projects for different institutions, collectors and private customers.
In 2018 and 2019 Katrin Pietsch was a member of the advisory committee for the German government during the initial phase to develop a National Institute for Photography.
