Photography as exhibition material in transhistorical curating
Eva Langerak, curator at the Grote Kerk Breda, searches for a dialogue between historical material
and contemporary themes. Does an object, such as a photograph, only derive value from actuality,
from contemporary social issues? Or is there more to it? Can a photograph undergo a shift in
meaning, and live a long life for a constantly changing audience? As curator at the Grote Kerk in
Breda, among other places, Langerak put together several exhibitions with this thought in mind. And
for Dialogue, using telling examples, she formulates an answer.
